Rotary Club to host Wine to Water Gala

Posted

Crawfordsville Rotary Club members are putting the final touches on next month’s Wine to Water Gala.

The biannual event will take place 6:30-11 p.m. July 17 at St. Bernards Catholic Church, 1306 E. Main St.

This year’s theme is The Roaring 20’s/Diamonds are Forever and it will be carried throughout the gala, including a contest for best period dress. The first place recipient will win a cash prize. There also will be a piano bar, ballroom and “speakeasy.”

Live and silent auctions will take place during the evening, including the auction of five diamond pieces of jewelry, ranging from a $1,000 bracelet to a $5,200 diamond ring.

Music will fill every room where hors d’oeuvres will be served, in true 1920’s fashion.

Proceeds will help local children’s organizations as well as projects in Haiti that are supported by the Rotarians.

“It’s going to be a great, great night. And with everything we have planned this year, I think it’s going to be the best Wine to Water we’ve ever put on,” said Rotary Club member Ron Hess. “We’re going to help a lot of children locally and across the world.”

In the past, Rotarians used funds from the Wine to Water event to build wells in a mountain town in Haiti, allowing young girls to go to school instead of spending their days collecting water for their families.

Gala tickets may be purchased from any Rotary Club member, including Hess. He can be reached at 765-301-1165. Tickets also may be purchased at F.C. Tucker West Central, 200 E. Market St. or Morgan’s Glass & Paint, 1205 E. Market St.
