North Montgomery boys golf made big strides in 2022 under first year head coach Bob Ryker. Now with a full season under his belt and bringing every single golfer back with a couple of additions, the standard has been raised for the Charges as they begin 2023.

Senior Drew Norman returns for the Chargers and will be joined by Hayden Turner, Haze Kashon, Neal Jefferyy, and Alex Chapman as the returners for North Montgomery.

“I’ve never been more ready for a golf season to get started,” Ryker said. “The group of guys that we have coming back have put in the work and have set their goals high. They know what they can accomplish this season and have told me how they plan to get there. I’m just ready for the season to get rolling. It’s going to be fun to watch these guys compete day in and day out.”

The Chargers a season tied for fifth place at the sectional with a score of 373. Norman entered a playoff for the third and final individual to advance to the Regional but fell just short.

The drive and motivation by not just Norman but the entire Charger team is something that has added to the excitement that surrounds this upcoming season.

“With our guys having these goals and how motivated they are, it makes it easy for me as a coach,” Ryker added. “Our seniors are doing a great job of setting the tone and getting the rest of our team to where they need to be. They have a self-lit fire under them and nothing will stop them from accomplishing their goals.”

The Chargers have already been preparing for the season by playing in the elements at practice. With plenty of talent and lofty goals, the Chargers might just have a breakthrough year in 2023.
