The high school swim season may be over but Sugar Creek Swim Cub (SCSC) season is always in session. Saturday SCSC made the trip all the way up North to Elkhart for the 2024 Spring Senior Championships.
Overall SCSC was well represented. Crawfordsville’s Whitman Horton placed eighth in the 100 backstroke, ninth in the 200 backstroke, 14th in the 100 butterfly, 18th in the 100 breastroke, and 27th in the 50 free. Other Athenians included Marie Hesler who competed in the 100 and 200 fly, 500 free, and 400 IM, Sophia Melevage in the 100 & 200 fly. North Montgomery’s Dusty Robinson placed 32nd in the 200 back and 36th in the 100 back.
Four different relay teams swam for SCSC including Melevage, Hesler, Brooklyn Kerns, and Kylie Sankey in the 200 and 800 freestyle relays. Robinson, Kerns, Melevage, and Ellie Walker competed in the 400 medley relay while Melevage, Sankey, Hesler, and Walker competed in the 400 medley relay.
