Follow the Smiths in ‘Meet Me in St. Louis’

HILLSBORO — Myers Dinner Theatre is excited to present its 2023 Main Stage finale, Meet Me in St. Louis. 

This musical, based on the heart-warming film, will open Friday, with seating for dinner at 6 p.m. ET and the meal at 6:30 p.m.This play, directed by TJ Bird, will run through Dec. 23. 

It is the summer of 1903, and everyone in the Smith family eagerly anticipates the opening of the 1904 World’s Fair. Over the course of a year, the family’s mutual respect, tempered with good-natured humor, helps them through romance, opportunity and heartbreaks. The musical includes seven of the best-loved songs from the film, plus 10 additional Martin and Blane songs written especially for the stage. Memorable musical numbers include “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas,” “The Boy Next Door,” “The Trolley Song” and “Whenever I’m with You.” 

This show will feature many talented actors. Kristina Swearingen (as Esther Smith) will be joined by Samantha Bagdon (Anna Smith), Ruthie Sangster (Rose Smith), Teresa Ross (Katie), Austin M. Russell (John Truitt), Matthew Hawkins (Lon Smith), Benjamin Elliott (Alonso Smith), Brett Fredrickson (Warren Sheffield), Hannah Bergman (Lucille Ballard), Don Hart (Grandpa Prophater), Annie Heartney (Eve, ensemble), Logan Hanson (Clinton Badger, postman, ensemble), TJ Bird (Pee Wee, motorman, ensemble) and Drae Beller (trolley passenger, party guest, ensemble). Sharing roles will be Allie Stacy and Adelaide Klinger (as Tootie Smith) and Kinley Barney and Greta Shambarger (as Agnes Smith). 

Meet Me in St. Louis opens Friday and runs through Dec. 23, with weekday matinee seating for meals at 11:30 a.m. ET, the meal at noon, and curtain at 1:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday evening performances will have seating for meals at 6 p.m., meal at 6:30 p.m., and curtain at 8 p.m. Saturday and Sunday matinees will have seating for meals at noon, meal at 12:30 p.m. and curtain at 2 p.m. Tickets may be purchased by phone at 765-798-4902, ext. 2, from the MDT Facebook page or by visiting the MDT website at www.myersdt.com.

Performance dates vary, so consult the online calendar for dates and times. Theatre prices are $55.50 for dinner and show, $43 for students (ages 4-18), and show-only for $41. Prices do not include taxes, handling fees or gratuity for waitstaff. Season tickets, group pricing, and bus parking are also available.

Myers Dinner Theatre is located at 108 Water St., Hillsboro, and is handicap accessible.
