STATEHOUSE — State Sen. Brian Buchanan (R-Lebanon) welcomed the following local students to the Statehouse who served as Senate pages in February.

• Caitlyn Gibbons, from Zionsville, attends Classical Studies of Indianapolis;

• Ethan Harlan, from Jamestown, attends Western Boone Junior/Senior High School;

• Esther Keesee, from New Ross, is a homeschooled student; and

• Helena Streib, from Zionsville, attends Zionsville Community High School.

Pages spend a day at the Statehouse touring the historic building, observing debates from the Senate floor and interacting with their state senator.

“I enjoyed meeting pages from Senate District 7 and welcoming them to the Statehouse to learn about Indiana government,” Buchanan said. “It is always a pleasure meeting young Hoosiers who want to learn about how their state legislature operates and a senator’s role in the process. “

Students in grades six through 12 participate in the page program on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays during the legislative session. Groups serve on Wednesdays.
