Sharon "Sherry" Ann (Cox) Winger, 81, of Linden passed away Saturday, May 25, 2024, at Ben Hur Nursing Home. 

She was born March 19, 1943, at Crawfordsville, to the late Keith Cox and Lucille (Peebles) Cox. Sherry married Ralph D. Winger on Jan. 10, 1997, and they were married 23 years before he preceded her in death in October 2020.

Sherry graduated from Darlington High School in May of 1961. Her first marriage was to Richard C. Shelton with whom she had three children. They were married for 20 years. He preceded her in death in June of 2020.

Sherry worked at Purdue University, in several schools as a teacher’s aide, with Charlene Walls at S &W Group and owned the Bread Basket Restaurant in Darlington.

She was active in church all of her life and her memberships included Darlington United Methodist, Linden United Methodist and Whitesville Christian Church. She was a youth leader and Sunday school teacher and she sang in the choir.

She was in the MNO Extension Homemakers Club and her other volunteer work included Pink Ladies and Meals on Wheels. Sherry touched the lives of many with her loving and giving personality.

She treasured spending time with her family, friends and watching sports, especially when her children and grandchildren were playing.

She is survived by her three children, Duane (Diane) Shelton of Bainbridge, Doug (Angel) Shelton of Fishers and Debbie (Bill) Calder of Crawfordsville; two step-daughters, Terri (Allen) Cline and Tami Galbo, both of Ladoga; grandchildren, Ron Johnson, Jacob and Adam Shelton, Chase Calder and Kyle (Krish) Calder; step-grandchildren, Kristin Cline, Tyler (Breanna) Cline, Kyle (Tori) Cline, Filippo Galbo and Enzo Galbo; great-grandchildren, Johannah Calder and Konley and Kreighton Calder; step-greatgrandchildren, Vivian, Wyatt and Lanie Paris and Clara Cline; siblings, Kay Norton, George (Karon) Cox, Janni Hall, Mary (Steve) Harrison; and many cherished nieces and nephews.

A celebration of life will be at 6 p.m. Friday, May 31 at North Cornerstone Church, 609 S. Main St., Linden, with Pastor Phil Carder officiating. Visitation will be from 3 p.m. until the time of service also at the church. Her final resting place will be at the Linden Cemetery. Servies & Morgan Funeral Home has been entrusted with the funeral arrangements.
