Shoulder, side street closures to impact U.S. 136 through Waynetown

WAYNETOWN — The Indiana Department of Transportation announces several shoulder closures and side street restrictions throughout the U.S. 136 corridor in Waynetown.

Beginning on or after Tuesday, Aug. 4, INDOT contractors will begin construction on an ADA sidewalk ramp project through town. The following locations will be impacted around the following dates:

Aug. 4-6:

• U.S. 136 corresponding shoulders will be closed

• Northbound & southbound traffic on McClure Street & Franklin Street will be closed, along with the southwest & southeast corner sidewalks

• NB & SB traffic on Vernon Street will be closed for work on sidewalk in the northwest corner of Vernon Street

Aug. 5-7:

• NB & SB traffic on Carolyn Street closed for work on sidewalk at SW and SE corners, US 136 shoulder will be closed as well.

• NW Hancock and Plum Street corners, the sidewalk will be closed, and the U.S. 136 shoulder will be closed

Aug. 6-10:

• SW Hollman, Hancock and Plum Street corners, sidewalks will be closed, along with U.S. 136 shoulders

Aug. 7-11:

• NE Hancock and Plum Street corners, sidewalks closed along with U.S. 136 shoulders

Aug 10-12:

• SE Hollman, Hancock, and Plum Street corners, sidewalks will be closed for ADA ramp work, and U.S. 136 shoulders will be closed

Aug 11-13:

• SE Vine and Vernon Street corners. Sidewalks in the area will be closed for ADA ramp work, and the U.S. 136 shoulders will be closed

Aug 12-14:

• NW corner of Vine Street and the sidewalk will be closed in addition to the U.S. 136 shoulders

Aug 13-17:

• SW Vine and Vernon Street corners and sidewalks will close for ADA ramp work in addition to the U.S. 136 shoulders

Aug 14-18:

• NE Vine Street corners and sidewalks closed for ADA ramp work and U.S. 136 shoulder will be closed

Aug 17-19:

• NB & SB traffic on Vernon Street will be closed; NW and NE corners of Vernon Street sidewalks will be closed and U.S. 136 shoulders will be closed for ADA ramp construction.

All work is weather-dependent and subject to change. The duration of the project is anticipated to extend through the beginning of September but is weather-dependent and subject to change.

INDOT encourages drivers to use extra caution and avoid distractions while traveling in and around work zones.
