Posted

The Crawfordsville boys’s soccer team bounced back on Thursday with a 1-1 (2-0 PKs) win over Danville in a shootout. The win puts the Athenians at 11-3 on the season and secures a second place finish in the Sagamore Conference. “We bounced back (lost to West Lafayette on Monday) and tried some different things today. The kids worked really well as a group. Had really good passing, ball distribution.”

Kevin Barrera-Chinchilla scored the lone goal assisted by Joseph Sanchez. Alex Caballero and Emmett Bowman scored the pair of goals in the shootout, while Landon Timmons had 16 total saves.

After a down year in 2019, the win secured a second place finish in the Sagamore Conference for the Athenians.

“I think the reality is the kids are playing for each other when they’re out there on the field,” Hale said. “They’re coachable and they’re doing what we are asking them to do, and they’re having fun. And that’s all you can really ask for.”
