In a spirit of academic achievement and community celebration, Southmont Junior High School proudly acknowledges the recent National Junior Honor Society Induction Ceremony, held March 4, as a resounding success under the proficient guidance of NJHS Chapter Advisors, Haley Roberts Beach and Christina Kerns. The prestigious event took place at Southmont High School, bringing together students, parents, faculty, and community members to honor and recognize outstanding scholars.

Grade 6 — Andrea Allen, Hudson Beach, Lillia Dawson, Lorelei Hoskins and Jordanna Troutman

Grade 7 — Hayleigh Boots, Alexis Harden, Emery James, Emily Mohan, Emma Plemons, Lanie Ramsey, Emily Simpson, Emilyn Steiner, Emma Stephens and Amelia Woods

Grade 8 ­— Ava Bradshaw, Brita Cleek, Gavyn Gleason, Hayden Harkrider, Rebekah Johnson, Margaret Grace Klein, Claire McCutchan, Ziva Moody, Camryn Priebe, Astrid Rabeyrin, Espen Sutton, Liam Trautwein and Ava Wells

The ceremony, a hallmark of scholastic excellence, acknowledged students who embody the core values of the NJHS ­— scholarship, leadership, service, character, and citizenship. Inductees demonstrated exceptional dedication to academic success, leadership qualities, and a commitment to serving their community.

The evening commenced with a welcome from Beach followed by Southmont Junior High School Principal, Brooke Busenbark, emphasizing the significance of the NJHS and its role in fostering well-rounded individuals. Keynote speakers, including esteemed educators, Jamie McCormick, Amy France, Brooke Phelps, Jennifer Snook and Tim Flagg imparted words of inspiration, encouraging students to continue their pursuit of knowledge and service.

As each inductee crossed the stage, they were met with applause and admiration from peers, parents, and teachers alike. The lighting of candles symbolizing the five pillars of the NJHS underscored the values that these students have exemplified throughout their academic journey.

The ceremony also featured speeches from the Dean of Students, Erin Blaydes and Kerns. The sense of camaraderie and mutual commitment to excellence was palpable throughout the evening.

Parents and family members played an integral role in the celebration, their pride evident as they witnessed their children being recognized for their scholastic achievements. The event provided an opportunity for the Southmont community to come together and celebrate the collective dedication to academic success and community service.
