Southmont’s Tayler Anderson will continue her academic and volleyball career at Indiana Tech after signing with the Warriors last week. The Mountie senior helped Southmont to another sectional title this past season, the second in four years for the Mounties.

Anderson as she did, for South will man the libero position for the Warriors. She led the Mounties this past season with 389 total digs and was the defensive leader while she was out on the floor.

“The players and coaching staff were all really nice to me when I took my visit there,” Anderson said. “The campus was felt right to me and was small enough to where I could feel at home.”

Anderson will major in psychology while with the Warriors.

Mountie coach Erin Barry praised Anderson and knows that she has what it takes to succeed at the collegiate level.

“Tayler is just hard worker and is really self motivated,” Barry said of Anderson. “She was here at every single open gym that we had and busted her tail off during practice. Those area always great qualities for someone to have for them to succeed at the next level. She’s had this goal ever since I’ve known her and I’m just very proud of her.”

The Warriors this past fall went a stellar 28-8 on the season and made the NAIA Volleyball Tournament. The team will graduate six seniors from that team so there’s a chance that Anderson could come in and make an impact in her freshman season.

“I feel like I can bring a lot of leadership because I’ve played every position out there on the court,” Anderson said. “The transition from high school to college will take some getting used to, but I know that I can accomplish anything I put my mind to.”
