Voters in Montgomery County this fall will receive a very special “I Voted” sticker after casting their ballot — one designed by a local student.
In honor of the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence, the Carnegie Museum of Montgomery County held a competition this summer to have local children design the “I Voted” stickers that will be distributed during the fall 2026 election.
The Carnegie Museum received a total of 92 entries, from which 11 finalists were selected among three age groups — elementary school (grades K-5), middle school (6-8) and high school (9-12). A panel of judges then selected the winning design from each age group.
A total of 16,000 “I Voted” stickers have been printed and delivered to Montgomery County election officials for distribution during the fall election season. The printing of the stickers was funded by the League of Women Voters of Montgomery County. After casting their ballot, county voters will receive one of the three winning stickers to display.
Ava Barclay, a fifth grader at Sugar Creek Elementary School, designed the winning elementary school sticker. Her sticker includes a proud eagle in front of a US Flag.
Micaiah Frey, a sixth grade home school student, designed the winning middle school sticker. His sticker includes a fun nod to Star Wars’ Yoda, who “Voted, I Did.”
Livvy Selleck, a sophomore at North Montgomery High School, designed the winning high school sticker. Her adorable duck waves a US flag after voting.
Each of these stickers will be available at Montgomery County voting locations during early voting Oct. 6 through Nov. 2, and on Election Day, Nov. 3.
The Carnegie Museum of Montgomery County congratulates all three winners of the competition, and extends a special thank you to the League of Women Voters of Montgomery County, Montgomery County Election Coordinator Jennifer Harwood, and the Montgomery County Clerk’s Office for their support of the project. Organizers also appreciate the panel of local judges: Kate Lindsay (League of Women Voters), Virginia Servies (Montgomery County Election Board), Annie Strader (Wabash College Art Department) and Correna Vellner (Youth Services Bureau).
Original sticker art from all 11 contest finalists will be on display at the Carnegie Museum through Nov. 7. In addition to the three winners, Barclay, Frey and Selleck, the other student artists featured include Monroe Cohee, Lilia Frey, Jacey Hoenshell (two designs), Peter Miller, Ellie Raley, Chloe Wethington and Zoey White.
The Carnegie Museum is open 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday through Saturday. Admission is free, and the building is wheelchair and stroller accessible.
