Pat Stull, program director for Meals on Wheels, spoke to the Crawfordsville Rotary Club at their noon meeting. Meals on Wheels was started in 1969 by a group of eight nurses. Currently, there are about 50 clients ranging in age from in the late 40's to the early 90's. Meals are prepared in the local hospital kitchen by the trained staff. Each hot meal consists of an entree, a starch, a vegetable, fruit and milk or juice. The meals are delivered by dedicated drivers Monday through Friday. In an average month about 1,000 hot meals are prepared and delivered. The total number of meals amounts to about 13,000 meals annually. Volunteers are welcome.
