Sugar Creek Players are set to enchant audiences with their latest production, “Peter and the Starcatcher,” directed by Eric Margerum and produced by Linda Kingry.
Taking the stage at The Vanity Theater on Friday and Saturday at 7 p.m., and on Sunday at 2:30 p.m., theater enthusiasts will have the opportunity to embark on a whimsical journey filled with adventure, humor and magic. Additional showings are scheduled for 7 p.m. April 19 and 2:30 p.m. April 20 and April 21.
In this imaginative prequel to the beloved story of Peter Pan, audiences will be transported to a time before Neverland. The play follows the tale of an orphan boy named Peter, portrayed by this season’s newcomer, Ben Oppy, whose previous roles include the memorable Oliver Warbucks in “Annie.” As Peter discovers a mysterious trunk containing magical starstuff, he embarks on a thrilling adventure across the high seas. Along the way he encounters pirates, mermaids and a spirited young girl named Molly, who holds the key to his destiny. Molly is played by Shaeleigh Hreskowsky, known for her portrayal of Grace Ferrel in this season’s “Annie,” — she adds her charm and talent to the production.
Veteran actor Dustin Gardner also graces the stage, bringing depth and charisma to his role. And returning from last season’s “The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe,” Daniel Simmons brings his remarkable talent to the production as Black Stache, captivating audiences with his performance.
Margerum promises a visually stunning and emotionally resonant production, filled with heartwarming moments and swashbuckling action. “Peter and the Starcatcher” is a celebration of the power of imagination and the enduring spirit of youth.
