Thelma Marie “Lou” Douglas of Crawfordsville passed peacefully on Wednesday morning at Wellbrooke at the age of 90.

Mrs. Douglas was a member of Woodland Heights Christian Church ever since moving to Crawfordsville in 1972.  She was a stay-at-home mom that later worked 26 years at J.C. Penney.  She was a graduate of Marshall High School in Marshall, Indiana.

Born March 16, 1933 in Somerset, Kentucky, she was the daughter of Herbert Wall and Zula Cope Wall.  She married James “Jim” Douglas on Feb. 27, 1955.  He passed away July 17, 2008.

Surviving family includes: four daughters, Vickie (Ray) Banker, Sherry (Isaac) Smith, Deborah (Mike) Mettler and Karla Proffitt; two sisters, Norene Servies and Lorma (J.B.) Hale; eight grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson.

She was preceded in death by: her parents; husband; sister, Freda Jean Baker and her husband, Harold Baker; grandson, Noah Herbert Smith; and son-in-law, David Proffitt.

Visitation will be at Woodland Heights Christian Church, 468 N. Woodland Heights Drive, on Wednesday, January 3rd from Noon to 2 PM.  Services will begin at 2 PM, led by Pastor Steve Wilke.  Burial will follow at Bethany Cemetery in Marshall, Indiana.  Arrangements were made through Burkhart Funeral Home.
