BRIDGETON — Take a trip back in time this weekend at Bridgeton, where organizers are planning the Bridgeton Civil War Days.
Events will take place from 9:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday. Visitors can interact with soldiers and civilians of the Civil War and experience life from 1861-1865.
Walk through a day during the Civil War as you visit the authentic camps and see a skirmish at 2 p.m. Saturday and 1 p.m. Sunday. The Indiana 49th Co. F will have drills Saturday morning and afternoon. Visit a Union field hospital and see the army surgeon and his nurse at work saving the casualties. Meet Abe Lincoln as he tours the camp Sunday. Bill Robison will be on the 1822 Cabin porch with live period dulcimer music.
“There will be lots of fun and interesting learning opportunities for the kids about this pivotal time in American history,” organizers stated in a press release.
See hearth cooking and other pioneer demonstrations at the 1822 Case Log Cabin. Visit the 1878 House, the Liberty Tree Shop and Old Barn New for crafts and antiques. Shop with vendors in the 1878 Barn, Collom’s Store and the Artisan’s Barn at the Mill. Have lunch at Collom’s restaurant. Don’t miss the mill with it’s new bakery shop and organic stone ground products. And of course, take a stroll through the beautiful Bridgeton Covered Bridge.
There is no admission charge for any of these events and plenty of free parking.

Bridgeton is located in southern Parke County, nine miles south of Rockville, or take State Road 59 North from Brazil to the Bridgeton billboard, or travel east of Rosedale six miles.
