Turkey Run Elementary School has been recognized as a Leader in Me Lighthouse School by FranklinCovey Education. This honor is a testament to the fact that TRES has reached their goals and have met objectives set through the implementation of Leader in Me’s principles and practices and applying the Seven Habits of Highly Effective Students in their daily curriculum.

“We are thrilled to recognize Turkey Run Elementary as a Leader in Me Lighthouse School. Schools who achieve this Lighthouse Certification are great examples of a strong leadership model, and of what it means to be a Leader in Me school. This school has experienced incredible results by implementing the principles and practices related to Leader in Me. And we are so pleased and honored to be their partner and to celebrate the success they are experiencing,” said Sean Covey, president of FranklinCovey Education.

There are only six schools in the state of Indiana who have received the Lighthouse Certification. This honor is a testament to the fact that TRES has accomplished substantial measurable outcomes, aligned with their objectives, through the implementation of Leader in Me’s principles and practices.

“Lighthouse Certification is a highly regarded standard and lets others know that we are a great example of a strong leadership model. TRES is one of the best Leader in Me schools around. Our review team was blown away by our achievements, especially since we have done so much without training. Multiple times, they mentioned that they should use our work as an example for others on their website,” said Meghan Bridge, Lighthouse team member.

The Leader in Me program is based on The Seven Habits of Highly Effective Students, which enables students, staff, and families to work towards a common objective of preparing students with skills essential for college, career, and life readiness. With this program, students learn to become self-aware, interdependent, take initiative, plan ahead, set goals, prioritize, communicate, find creative solutions, and contribute to society.

TRES will maintain its Lighthouse Certification for two years and will continue to foster its growth and proficiency in exemplifying a leadership culture and principles. At the end of the two years the school will recertify its Lighthouse Certification through a virtual self-assessment, describing and celebrating its growth and accomplishments since its original Lighthouse designation.
