United Way kicks off campaign

Agency sets $350,000 goal to help 16 community partners

Close to 100 individuals gathered under clear blue skies at the Rocky Ridge Golf Club clubhouse Sept. 16 to celebrate the United Way in Montgomery County 2022 Campaign Kick-off.

Dr. Kathy Steele, this year’s campaign chair, used the luncheon to emphasis the importance of the local agencies.

“Every school, business and family has some type of a safety plan,” she said. “You do not call 911 or grab for our first aid kits every day, but when an emergency hits, you seek help. Last month, I visited with each of the United Way agencies, and I realized that these agencies play an important role in our community’s safety plan.

“This is why the 2022 United Way campaign is so important. The funds raised through these efforts will ensure that our 16 partner agencies can continue to be our community first aid kit — fighting for the health, education, and financial stability of all in Montgomery County.”

Partner agencies and local leaders celebrated as Gina Haile, United Way in Montgomery County Director, announced the 2022 campaign goal.

“We believe in our community and trust, despite the pressures of our current economy, that they recognize the need and want to give,” Haile said. “We believe that our community, working together, can meet the goal of $350,000.”

While the luncheon was the official kickoff of the campaign, a number of Pacesetters are currently underway. Proceeds from a silent auction at Hoosier Heartland State Bank’s Ag Expo last month were the first dollars into the campaign. Additionally, the Youth Service Bureau along with the three school corporations — North Montgomery, Crawfordsville and Southmont — are wrapping up their campaigns.

The funds raised in the campaign are allocated to 16 partner agencies that work to help individuals and families with the challenges they face. Each year, hundreds of individuals across Montgomery County make gifts to support the life changing work in education, income and health. All gifts, regardless of size, make a difference.

Donations may be sent to United Way in Montgomery County, P.O. Box 247, Crawfordsville, IN 47933.
