LINDEN — The Valero Renewables plant in Linden has contributed a combined total of $37,000 to two non-profit organizations in Montgomery County.

The plant, which has been in operation since 2010, has donated $18,350 to the Boys & Girls Club of Montgomery County and $18,350 to the Veterans Memorial Park project, both of which are located in Crawfordsville.

The funds for the Boys & Girls Club were pledged towards its after-school program, which provides a safe and positive learning environment for Montgomery County’s youth. The program also aims to provide encouragement and development for kids’ interpersonal and educational skills through valuable experiences. This investment from Valero will be used to renovate its multi-purpose room into additional classroom space for its participants, as well as for purchasing program equipment including virtual reality, STEM and technology enhancements.

The contribution for Veterans Memorial Park, which is an ongoing project located south of American Legion Post 72, aims to help bring in a 1969 Bell UH-1 Iroquois helicopter as a display piece for the park. The project began when a group of local veterans collaborated to create a space suited to recognize and celebrate all of our country’s heroes.

The Linden plant has committed more than 11,000 volunteering hours to various local organizations and events since 2013. Through its employee-led volunteering council, it has contributed to various events such as the Montgomery County 4-H Fair and the Youth Service Bureau’s National Night Out held every August.
