Bryon Cox American Legion Post 72 will have its annual Veterans Expo from 8 a.m. to noon Thursday.
All veterans and their spouses will have the opportunity to visit with a variety of veteran services and other organizations.
Co-organizer and Post 72 Third Vice Commander Mike Spencer said the event’s purpose is to bring multiple organizations together that want to help veterans.
“We have all sorts of groups going to have booths this year and they all have something to offer our veterans and spouses,” Spencer said. “We want to encourage all veterans to come and learn about what is available to them.”
The day will kick off with an 8 a.m. breakfast of biscuits and gravy provided by the former president of the local Blue Star Mothers.
Walgreens will provide flu shots. Veterans must provide their Medicare card or other proof of health insurance. Eye exams will be provided by Sugar Creek Eye Care.
Hoosier Heartland State Bank will have a drawing for $500. The winner can either have $250 cash and the other half goes to the charity of choice.
Montgomery County Veterans Service Officer Joe Ellis, along with Department Service Officer John Hickey, will be available to assist veterans with questions.
Representatives from Disabled American Veterans, Veteran of Foreign Wars and Daughters of American Revolution also will be available.
Spencer said one of the best things about the gathering is that veterans will attend and see old friends or meet new ones.
“Many of the veterans will stay around and just chat with other veterans,” Spencer said. “The fellowship that goes on is a fun part of the Expo.”
