Montgomery County residents will have an opportunity to spend a morning giving back to their community during the third annual Montgomery County Community Day of Service on Sept. 16.
The event, organized by the Montgomery County Leadership Academy and six partner agencies, will bring together individuals, families, businesses, civic groups and community teams to complete volunteer projects benefiting 13 local nonprofit and community organizations.
The MCLA is joined by the City of Crawfordsville, Crawfordsville/Montgomery County Chamber of Commerce, Crawfordsville Main Street, Wabash College, Montgomery County Community Foundation and United Way of Montgomery County, with support from AmeriCorps, the 9/11 Project and in coordination with the America250 Day of Giving.
The day will begin with a welcome ceremony at 8:30 a.m. at Pike Place in Crawfordsville. Volunteers will then head to their assigned service projects throughout the community. Activities will conclude at noon.
Organizers hope to provide residents with an easy opportunity to spend a morning serving the community they call home while making a difference for local organizations.
Participating organizations include Abilities Services, Animal Welfare League of Montgomery County, Boys & Girls Club of Montgomery County, Crawfordsville Adult Resource Academy, Crawfordsville District Public Library, FISH of Montgomery County, Grace & Mercy Food Pantry, Montgomery County Historical Society, Pam’s Promise, The Kids Closet of Montgomery County, Volunteers for Mental Health in Montgomery County, Youth Service Bureau and The Masonic Cornerstone.
“Our goal is simple: give people an easy opportunity to give a morning, make a difference and serve the community they call home,” said Rachel Wells, MCLA executive director.
