Mounties swept by Stars

The Southmont volleyball team was swept 3-0 (25-12, 25-22, 25-18) by Western Boone on Saturday.

Sidney Veatcha nd Kaley Remley had 8 and 7 kills respectively, and Natalie Manion had 18 digs, while Chelsea Veatch had 12 assists.

Chargers compete at Terre Haute

The North Montgomery cross country teams competed in the Terre Haute State Preview on Saturday.

Elijah McCartney led the Chargers with a 10th place finish in a time of 18:21, while Kylin White was 114th in 27:04. Claire Bonwell placed 43rd in the girls’ race in a time of 27:06, while Lydia LaChance was 55th in 28:37, and Hannah Littell 69th in 31:12.

Athenians and Mustangs run at Harrison

The Crawfordsville and Fountain Central cross country teams competed at the Harrison Invite on Saturday in the small school races. The Athenians boys placed 7th and the Mustangs 13th. In the girls race the Athenians were 9th. 

Hunter Hutchison led Cville with an 11th place finish in 17:32, while Ryan Miller was 21st in 18:01, and Ian Hensley 50th in 19:17. Roman Contreras was 58th in 19:34, Arthur Ruano 73rd in 20:33 and Peter Kearns 77th in 20:35. Nathanial Million was 93rd and Drake Burris 103rd. Rual Gonzalez was 123rd.

Carson Pietrzak led the Mustangs with a 32nd place finish in 18:25, while Hayden Kler was 59th in 19:34, Dan Adamss 63rd in 19:39, and Justin Butts 78th in 20:36.  Nathan Solom was 97th, Ethan Mellady 109th and Matt York 122nd. 

In the girls race, Crawfordsville’s Halle Smith was 23rd in 22:02, Shelby Greene 42nd in 23:02, Skylah Strawser 46th in 23:15, and Elyse Widmer 50th in 23:35. Karla Fernandez was 57th in 24:05 and Olivia Biddle 58th in 24:09. Gabby Warren was 70th in 24:50. 

Tyler Bowling placed 64th for the Mustangs in 24:25, while Kenna Bible was 87th in 26:03 and Courtney Sims 90th in 26:15. 

Athenians fall to Bruins on pitch

The Crawfordsville boys’ soccer team fell to Sagamore Conference foe Tri-West 4-1 on Saturday.

Mustangs win tennis invite

The Fountain Central boys’ tennis team edged Attica 11-10 to claim the Mustang Invite title.

The No. 1 doubles team of Sawyer Keeling and CJ Yager won the individual title, while Carson Eberly was the runner-up in No. 1 singles and Jacob Keeling the runner-up at No. 2 singles.

Carter Merryman and Brayden Prickett were also 2nd at No. 2 doubles, while Koby Wolf was 3rd at No. 3 singles.

Chargers compete at McCutcheon

The North Montgomery boys’ tennis team dropped a pair of 4-1matches to Benton Central and McCutcheon. The No. 1 doubles team of Brookes Walters and Will McKinniss were undefeated on the day.
