The Wabash College swimming and diving team earned College Swimming and Diving Coaches Association of America Scholar All-America Team honors for the Spring 2026 semester, while sophomore All-American Ryan West was named a First-Team Scholar All-American by the organization.
Wabash posted a 3.32 team grade-point average during the spring semester, with 32 student-athletes contributing to the Little Giants’ team honor. Teams were selected based on their Spring 2026 GPAs and were required to achieve a team GPA of 3.00 or higher to earn Scholar All-America recognition.
“I am thankful that our entire team has embraced a culture of excellence in the classroom,” Wabash head coach Will Bernhardt said. “They work incredibly hard in and out of the water, and it is very rewarding to get the recognition that they deserve.”
West added individual academic recognition after earning First-Team Scholar All-America honors. First-team selections must earn a GPA of 3.50 or higher and compete at their national championship. West, a physics major, represented Wabash among the NCAA Division III men’s honorees.
West earned All-America honors at the 2026 NCAA Division III Swimming and Diving Championships with an eighth-place finish in the A final of the 200-yard backstroke. He secured his spot in the championship final with a school-record time of 1:46.06 in the preliminaries, breaking his previous mark of 1:46.42 set earlier in the season at the North Coast Athletic Conference Championships. West finished eighth in the NCAA final with a time of 1:46.97.
West also captured the NCAC title in the 200-yard backstroke at the 2026 conference championships in Granville, Ohio.
“What more could you ask for in a student-athlete?” Bernhardt said. “Ryan had one of the best seasons in the history of the program in the water and now caps it off with First-Team Scholar All-America honors. It’s really hard to win our conference and be an NCAA All-American. The way he balances his workload in the classroom and in the water is truly admirable. What a fantastic accomplishment and honor.”
The CSCAA recognized 714 teams from 418 institutions for the Spring 2026 semester, representing 16,680 student-athletes across all collegiate divisions. More than 2,230 swimmers and divers earned individual Scholar All-America honors for the 2025-26 season.
