The Crawfordsville District Public Library recently partnered with the Master Gardeners of Montgomery County to host a community sunflower contest, celebrating gardening, creativity, and the joy of growing.
Participants were invited to grow their own sunflowers and compete in several categories. The contest gave gardeners of all ages an opportunity to show off their sunflowers.
The Carlson Family took first place in the Tallest Sunflower category with an impressive sunflower measuring 14 feet, 8 inches tall.
Amanda Fishero was named the winner of the Largest Flower Head category, earning recognition for growing a sunflower with a seed head 14” wide.
The Most Unique Sunflower category was decided by popular vote, with Oakley Benge taking the top honor. Oakley’s distinctive sunflower captured the attention and votes of community members.
The Crawfordsville District Public Library is grateful to the Master Gardeners of Montgomery County for partnering on this fun event. The sunflower contest provided an opportunity for residents to connect with gardening, learn more about growing plants, and share their accomplishments with others.
