A 24-year-old man was stabbed Wednesday after he got into a vehicle with friends, authorities said.

Police were called when the victim, whose name was not released, showed up at the emergency room at Franciscan Health Crawfordsville, Montgomery County Sheriff Ryan Needham said in a news released.

The victim told deputies that he and the driver, 19-year-old Christian Hill of Waveland, and a 17-year-old girl traveled to a couple of undisclosed locations before the vehicle was stopped on the road.

Outside the vehicle, the girl stabbed the victim in the neck, Needham said. Hill then struck the man with a metal pole, he added.

The victim was later transferred to an Indianapolis hospital, where he was believed to be in stable condition, Needham said. Police do not believe the injury is life-threatening.

The girl was charged with felony battery with a deadly weapon and taken to a Johnson County juvenile detention center.

Hill was arrested on a preliminary felony charge of battery with a deadly weapon and failure to appear on a theft warrant. He is being held without bond at the Montgomery County Jail.

Hill was also awaiting trial in Montgomery County on felony drug charges and possession of an altered handgun, according to court records.

The stabbing incident remains under investigation. Anyone with information is asked to contact Deputy Mike Taylor at mike.taylor@montgomerycounty.in.gov or Det. Ethan Redmon at ethan.redmon@montgomerycounty.in.gov.

Indiana State Police assisted with the case.
