Kirsch dazzles again in Charger win

North Montgomery junior Jarrod Kirsch showed yet again why he is one of if not the top pitcher in the Sagamore Conference Wednesday. After North Montgomery fell to Frankfort 2-1 on Tuesday, the Charger ace delivered yet another gem on the mound to get his team back in the win column as the Chargers narrowly came away with a 1-0 win.

On the mound Kirsch threw a complete game allowing just a single hit while striking out 11. The one Hot Dog hit came in the bottom of the fifth.

“Once again. Jarrod Kirsch was outstanding,” Charger coach Matt Voorhees said.  “Although there were times that his command was a little off tonight he just kept battling on every single pitch that he threw. We had good defense behind him and we did a much better job competing at the plate against good pitching on their part.”

The Chargers were limited to just three hits of their own. Cade Cole, Austin Sulc, and Dylan Braun had the three Charger hits.

“Coach Dudley (Frankfort) and I spoke about how fun the games against each other actually are,” Voorhees added.  “It seems like over the years all of these games are highly competitive. We battle against one another well. Although we only had three hits tonight we put the ball in play, forced them to make plays, and were able to execute and score a run which ultimately proved to be enough for Jarrod.”

With the win the Chargers improve to 10-6 (6-1 SAC). They’ll have some extended time off before welcoming Lebanon to Charger field next Tuesday.
