Golia’s 2HR game not enough as Trojans edge Mustangs

Fountain Central and Covington battled in a back and forth WRC contest on Tuesday and it looked as if FC would pull out the win as they led 11-10 and needing just three outs to secure a victory. However Tyra Hammer hit the go-ahead two-run home run for the Trojans in the top of the seventh and Covington walked away with a 12-11 win.

Chole Golia had a monster game at the plate for FC with two home-runs in the game including the go-ahead shot in the sixth. She tallied six RBI’s and went 3-4 in the loss. Kendal Rahm also tallied three hits.

FC falls to 1-10 (0-9 WRC) on the season and will get ready for a re-match with the Trojans at Covington on Thursday.

Baseball

Chargers suffer first SAC loss at Frankfort

North Montgomery couldn’t muster much offense against Sagamore Conference foe Frankfort on Tuesday and would ultimately suffer their first loss in the conference with 8-1 defeat.

The Chargers tallied just two hits in the game, one each by Brookes Walters and Corbin Meadows while the Hot Dogs had their way with starting pitcher Corbin Meadows picking up nine hits and capitalizing off of four Charger errors.

With the loss the Chargers fall to 8-4 (5-1 SAC) and will look to salvage a game against Frankfort this evening at North Montgomery.

Mustangs win slug-fest over against Trojans.

Fountain Central’s offense was on full display Tuesday as the Mustangs pounded out 14 hits in a 12-7 win over the Covington Trojans.

The Mustangs were able to jump out to an 8-1 lead over Covington after the first two innings and added a single run in the fifth and one in the sixth.

Kyle Slinker paced the FC offense with a 3-3 night at the plate and scoring three runs. Lukas Miller, Cole Garbison, and Dawson Blue all had two-hit nights for FC with Miller having a team-high three RBI’s. With the win FC improves to 2-8 (2-5 WRC) on the season and will go for the sweep of the Trojans on Thursday at Covington

Tennis

Athenians blank Warriors in home opener

Crawfordsville girls tennis finally got to have their official home opener of the season on Tuesday as they hosted conference foe Danville. CHS treated their home fans to a 5-0 sweep of the Warriors as they improved to 3-1 in the Sagamore Conference.

The Athenians will stay at home as they will welcome Greencastle on Thursday.

Chargers drop SAC matchup against Stars

North Montgomery fell to Western Boone 5-0 on Tuesday.

The Chargers will be back in action on Thursday as they host Frankfort

Mustangs stay perfect in WRC, down Patriots

Fountain Central girls tennis remained unblemished in the WRC action with a 5-0 victory over Seeger on Tuesday.

Lillie Fishero at one singles was victorious over Addison Shrader 7-6(2), 6-1 while Haley Webb at two singles took home a 6-0, 6-0 win over Kaylee Brown. Three singles saw Angela Gonzalez defeat Eva Ford 7-5, 6-2.

At one doubles Emily Jimenez and Hannah Prickett picked up a 6-0, 6-2 win over Ellen McDonald and Ashlynn Simpson. Marylee Muniz and Kendall Eberly rounded out the wins at two singles with a 6-1, 6-3 win over Allie Johnson and Maddie Hays.

FC is 8-1 on the season and still a perfect 4-0 in the WRC. They will host Southmont this evening.

Golf

Chargers second in three-team meet

North Montgomery placed second in a three team meet with Covington and Attica on Tuesday. The Trojans claimed first place with a score of 188 while the Chargers shot a 196. Attica placed third with a 229.

Neal Jeffrey led the way for North Montgomery by shooting a 47. Drew Norman and Haze Kashon both carded 49’s and Hayden Turner shot a 51. Not scoring for the Chargers were both Alex Chapman and Jacob Hughes who both ended with 53’s.

The Chargers are back in action this evening for a match against Sagamore Conference foe Frankfort.

Mustangs drop WRC match to Seeger

Fountain Central golf playing their sixth match in seven days couldn’t get past Seeger on Tuesday falling 211-217.

Wesley Jackson led the Mustangs with a 51, Jaylin Payne shot a 53, Kameran Krug a 56, and Carter Merryman rounded out the scoring with a 57. Mason Larking also carded a 61 with Koby Wolf shooting a 65. The Mustangs will take a much needed break before returning to action next Monday with a match against Covington.
