Chargers earn another come from behind win

North Montgomery softball coach Rob Early has always loved his teams desire to never give up in a ball game. The Chargers on Monday hosted the Bethesda Christian Patriots and found themselves down 9-2 headed into the bottom of the fourth. What transpired over the next three innings was North Montgomery out-scoring the Patriots 13-1 including a four-run fourth and an eight-run eigth as the Chargers secured their seventh win of the season in a 15-10 win.

The Charger offense pounded out 16 hits in the win. Ella McManomy (3-5 3R 4RBI), Cascie Keller (3-5), and Hope Delp (3-5) all had three hits in the win. Piper Ramey went 2-4 with three RBI’s and two runs scored. Sophia Shea, Jaymie Freeman, Emma Pyle, Blair Nichols, and Taelyn Stephens all had a hit each.

Delp on the mound threw the first five innings and allowed just four hits. Just three of her nine runs were earned and she struck out nine. Ramey came in to pitch the final two innings and struck out four while giving up a single hit.

North is now 7-13 on the season and gets ready for a big Montgomery County and Sagamore Conference series with Crawfordsville (2-16). They’ll travel to CHS on Tuesday before hosting the Athenians on Wednesday.

Cougars blast past Mounties

Southmont traveled to North Putnam on Monday and fell by a final score of 16-0 in five innings. The loss puts the Mounties at 7-11 on the season and they’ll be back on the road Tuesday when they travel to SAC foe Lebanon.

Patriots edge out Athenians

Crawfordsville traveled to take on Seeger Monday evening and fell to the host Patriots by a narrow 3-2 final score.

CHS will hit the road again on Tuesday to conclude Sagamore Conference play with a trip to Frankfort. A win for the Athenians gives them the out-right SAC title.

Mustangs suffer narrow loss vs Hornets

Fountain Central traveled to Rossville and fell to the host Hornets by a 3-2 score on Monday. Haley Webb at one singles defeted Addie Hale 6-1, 6-3 while Alydia Mellady took care of Ella Burkle 6-0, 6-0 at two singles.

Josie Harshbarger at three singles fell to the Patriots Berkley Lamur in three sets 2-6, 6-0, 2-6. The duo of Marylee Muniz and Hannah Prickett were defeated also in three sets 3-6, 6-2, 3-6 by Seeger’s Lily Sharp and Demi Freeman. Rounding it out at two doubles Kendall Eberly and Laney Hoagland were bested by Sydney McCullaugh and Baylee Best 2-6, 4-6.

FC continues its busy week on Tuesday when they host South Putnam for senior night.
