STATEHOUSE — Southmont Senior High School graduate Erika Belle Adams is gaining experience as an intern with State Rep. Tim Brown (R-Crawfordsville) and his fellow members of the Indiana House of Representatives during the 2020 legislative session.

Adams is the daughter of Jeri Adams. She is attending the University of Indianapolis and majoring in photojournalism and political science, with a concentration in foreign affairs and international relations. Adams earned a certificate in Global Studies/World Politics and will start her senior year in the fall of 2020.

“This program offered me experiences that will push me to succeed in my future,” Adams said. “I am incredibly thankful for all of my mentors, fellow interns who have become lifelong friends, and the representatives for guiding me toward a bright future in public service.”

As an intern in the House Majority Communications Office, Adams helps write press releases, creates legislative handouts and assists during press conferences.

“With this internship, Erika is able to grow her skills and learn a lot about state government,” Brown said. “She and other interns throughout session are helping with a variety of important tasks, like writing about legislation and setting up philanthropy events. She will be able to apply much of what she has learned in her future career. She is very talented and hardworking and I am thankful for her contribution.”

Each year, the House of Representatives offers paid internship opportunities to college students, law-school students, graduate students and recent college graduates for the duration of each legislative session.
