Elizabeth Ann “Bettye” Hudson of Crawfordsville passed away peacefully May 10, 2023, at home. She was 90.

Born Nov. 15, 1932, in St. Louis, Missouri, Bettye was the daughter of Charles A. Seitz and Florence E. Baldwin Seitz. She graduated from Cleveland High School, then earned a master’s degree in occupational therapy from Washington University in St. Louis. She first worked as an OT at Larue Carter Hospital in Indianapolis, dedicating herself to helping countless children and adults with disabilities.

Married to Robert C. Hudson, she moved to Crawfordsville in 1969, her memberships included, Art League, Tri Kappa and P.E.O. A 54-year member of the First Christian Church serving on numerous committees. Bettye worked at the Spin-A-Yarn store, teaching many locals the crafts of quilt making, knitting, and other seamstress skills.

She was re-certified for Occupational Therapy and “Mrs. Bettye” worked for Ability Services then West Central Co-operative in school systems including all Montgomery, Turkey Run, and Western Boone, helping countless special needs students.

Surviving family include her children: Chip Hudson (Patricia) and children, Hannah and Maggie; Dee Dee Hudson and children, Lily and Robert Stark; Rob Hudson (Shirley) and their children, Cole and Alex Ford (Brantley); J.B. Hudson (Mary Kay) and children, Will and Rachael; two great- grandchildren, Braelyn and Cayden Raymond.

A celebration of life for both Bettye and Bob, who passed away in January, will be held Saturday, May 27 at the First Christian Church of Crawfordsville at 11 a.m., with meal hosted by FCC at the home of Robert and Shirley Hudson. All friends are welcome to call that afternoon anytime.
