Earline S. (Shultz) Palin, 97, of Mellott, passed away at 6:30 a.m. Monday, May 6, 2024, in Wellbrooke of Crawfordsville.

Earline was born March 24, 1927, in Richland Township of Fountain County. She was the daughter of the late J. Harold and Fern Elizabeth (Carpenter) Shultz. She was a life resident of Richland Township, residing in Mellott. She graduated from Richland Township High School in 1945 and later from Central Beauty College in Indianapolis in 1946.

Earline was a hairdresser, working out of her home since 1946.

She was a member of the Mellott Church of Christ and had been worshiping at the Newtown Community Church.  She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Quigle-Palin American Legion Post #394 of Newtown. 

On Feb. 5, 1950, Earline married Donald M. Palin in Newtown. Donald preceded her in death Jan. 28, 2009.

Earline leaves behind four children, Kenton Palin, Mellott, Curtiss (Rhonda) Palin, Ft. Collins, Colorado, Leroy Palin, Mellott, and Leonard Palin, Mellott; four grandchildren, Aaron Palin, Paula (Justin) Patton, Lauren (Jim) Braun and Nichole (Oscar Pagan) Vigil; six great-grandchildren, Kennedy (Alex Baldwin) Vigil, Madison Vigil, Jordan and Jonathan McLain and Brayson and Shelby Braun; two great-great-grandchildren, Hazel and Everett Baldwin; sister Nancy Marsh, Plainfield; and brother Larry (Mary) Shultz, Veedersburg.

Earline was preceded in death by daughter Teresa Palin.

A gravesite service for Earline will be held at 2 p.m. May 15 in the Newtown Cemetery, with her cousin, the Rev. Charlie Carpenter officiating.
