Board OKs barricades for plaza rehab work

Crawfordsville Board of Public Works & Safety members gave Crawfordsville Main Street permission to use barricades as needed at the Marie Canine Plaza while rehabilitation work is completed there.

CMS director Sue Lucas said the pergola at the plaza on the corner of East Main and Green streets is undergoing restoration. Crews performing the work will need to block the sidewalk areas intermittently during the next two to three weeks. She said work should be completed the first week of June.

In other business, the board:

• Approved a request from Darin Hutson to place a dumpster today and Friday at the corner of 112 W. Franklin St.

• Approved a request from Mark Cox, street commissioner, to declare a 1999 snow plow as surplus and scrap the equipment.

• Received a quote from Macqueen Equipment for a 40-inch spreader tool for the Crawfordsville Fire Department. Cost of the extrication equipment is $17,999. The purchase will come from the department’s major rescue fund.

• Approved mowing work order requests from Barry Lewis, code enforcement officer, for 304 Wayne Ave., owned by Roberta Brock; 108 W. Franklin St., owned by Stephanie Poole; 705-707 S. Washington St., owned by Rusty and Erin Stevens; 702 Whitlock Ave., owned by Clayton Mennen; 214 Whitlock Ave., owned by Carmen Clark; 512 Whitlock Ave., owned by Tori and Paige Lamb; 904 E. Jefferson St., owned by John Kummings; 910 Tuttle Ave., owned by Remling Properties LLC; 912 Tuttle Ave., owned by Teresa Goodnight; 601 Robinson St., owned by Richard and Barbra Harris; and 35 Center Drive, owned by Emmundo Trujillo.
