Posted

Cassidy Bowlin, a senior at Southmont High School, was chosen the Distinguished Young Woman of Montgomery County 2021.

Fellow Mountie, Addison Charles, was first runner-up.

This scholarship program, formerly known as Junior Miss, is the oldest and largest high school girls scholarship program in the country. Participants compete in the categories of scholastics, interview, talent, fitness and self-expression.

By winning the local program, Bowlin has earned scholarship monies and a chance to compete at the state level. The state competition will be ran virtually this year. The winner of the state competition will have the chance to compete at the national level.

Organizers of the local competition wish to thank the sponsors that made the scholarship program possible this year: Nucor, China Inn, Tri-County Bank and Trust, Hoosier Heartland State Bank, Davis Morrison Realty, American Legion Byron Cox Post 72, Rotary of Crawforsville and New Market United Methodist Church.

Anyone wanting to donate to the program can contact Aimee Zachary, DYW of Montgomery County chairman, by email at azachary1825@gmail.com.
