Organizers of the 108th annual Sunshine Society Cheer Certificate campaign report $790 was donated this past week toward helping feed local families in need.
The Cheer Certificate program is a collaboration between the Crawfordsville High School Sunshine Society and the local chapter of Tri Kappa sorority. The groups solicit financial donations from community members and then award those funds to local families in the form of cheer certificates.
These certificates may be redeemed for grocery items at both Kroger locations in Crawfordsville. Certificates range in value according to family size. All donations remain in the community.
Donations are needed to reach the $12,000 campaign goal.
Those wishing to donate to the Cheer Certificate fund should complete a donation form, which is published regularly in the Journal Review and also can be found online at www.journalreview.com. Donations may be made in honor of or in memory of family or friends, or donations may be made anonymously. Donor names will be printed regularly in the newspaper.
Donations should be mailed to the Sunshine Society, P.O. Box 243, Crawfordsville, IN 47933.
Another way to donate to the cause is to attend the annual Holiday Spectacular presented by Dance by Deborah. This year’s show begins at 3:30 p.m. Sunday in the auditorium at Crawfordsville High School. Proceeds from admission go to the Cheer Certificate fund. Last year, they donated $2,681.

Lucille Brooks; $100 American Legion Auxiliary Byron Cox Post 72 in memory of veterans; $50 anonymous; $50 Dr. and Mrs. John Roberts in memory of Dr. Erik Lindseth; $20 a friend in memory of Greg and Kathy Warren; $30 Carolyn Thomas in memory of Robert “Butch” Thomas; $50 anonymous; $25 Carol R. Biggs.
Also, $50 Gerry Hargrove in memory of Mike Jay Hargrove; $50 anonymous in memory of Bonnie Bond, Terry Krout and James Vandorn; $25 John Hudson in memory of Roberta Hudson; $25 Christian friends; $20 Grandpa and Grandma Rice in honor of Kelly Rice Browning; $20 anonymous in honor of Betsy Strain for her love of young people; $100 anonymous in memory of Ruby Bowman, Don, Arlene and David Lovold; and $50 anonymous.
