CHS beats North in semi-final

Crawfordsville defeated North Montgomery 3-2 in the Crawfordsville Sectional on Wednesday to advance to Thursday’s championship.

Crawfordsville winners were No. 2 singles Mabel Hoar who defeated Cassidy Thomas and both doubles teams.

Athenian No. 1 doubles team of Isla Seward and Alayna Hall defeated Lauren Kelp and Isabelle Hamby 6-0, 6-1. Crawfordsville’s No. 2 doubles team of Sarah Melevage and Elliot Baker won 6-1, 6-0 over Annie Hess and Scarlette Hamm.

North Montgomery’s No. 1 singles Kate Merica defeated CC Cox 6-1, 6-1 and the Chargers’ No. 3 singles Caelyn Carpenter defeated Keira Toomy 0-6, 6-3, 10-7.

Crawfordsville faced Western Boone in Thursday’s championship. The Stars defeated Lebanon 4-1 on Wednesday.

 

Mustangs advance to championship

Fountain Central advanced to Thursday’s sectional championship match with a 4-1 victory over Covington.

Winning for Fountain Central were No. 2 singles Laney Hoagland over Kendall Shumaker 6-1, 6-3 and No. 3 singles Esme Muniz over Rhyanne Beck 6-7 (5), 6-1, 6-0. Both Mustang doubles teams won. No. 1 doubles of Savannah Bowers and Lilly Peterson defeated Jalyn Allen and Karlee Drollinger 6-2, 6-3 and No.2 doubles Rya Jackson and Jayden  Larkin beat Madie Holycross and Hope Smaltz 6-2, 6-3.

Fountain Central played South Vermillion for the championship on Thursday at Fountain Central. The Wildcats defeated Parke Heritage 4-1 to advance to the title match.
