COLLEGE ROUNDUP: Macee Williams breaks 1,000-point barrier, trio of former Mounties begin indoor T&F season

Former Fountain Central standout Macee Williams continues to lead the IUPUI Women’s Basketball team in scoring with 13.8 points per game during her junior season. The defending Horizon League Player of the Year broke the 1,000-point scoring barrier in the Jaguars 85-78 win over St. Johns on Nov. 30. IUPUI is 4-4 on the season and hosts IU Northwest on Wednesday. The Jaguars open up their Horizon League slate at Youngstown State on Dec. 28.

Trio of Mounties kickoff indoor track and field season

Former Southmont track and field athletes Justin Lowe, Brooks Long, and Kelsey Dugger began their indoor track and field seasons over the weekend.

Competing at Wabash College over the weekend, Lowe churned out a top performance for IU East with a run of 1:22.84 in the 600 meter dash. Lowe was also a part of the 4X400 relay that set a new indoor school record with a time of 3:24.03.

For IUPUI, competing at Purdue Fort Wayne, Long broke a school record in the 600 meters with a time of 1:25.97.

Kelsey Dugger, a UIndy sophomore, ran a personal best 19:01 in the 5,000 meter run, while competing at Grand Valley State.

Petrzak competes for Sycamores

Indiana State freshman, and former Fountain Central standout distance runner Logan Pietrzak competed in the Sycamore’s indoor track and field season opener, clocking a 4:32.46 in the mile run.

Swick playing key minutes for Bulldogs

Former Southmont standout basketball player Kaleb Swick has been a consistent starter for the Adrian College men’s basketball team.

Swick is averaging 6.3 pointers per game, and 4.4 rebounds. In Adrian’s last outing, a 78-63 loss to Case Western Reserve, Swick scored four points, hauled down nine boards, and dished out three assists.

Mitchell, Ravens compete against Franklin

Former North Montgomery standout swimmer Lillia Mitchell and the Anderson Swimming and Diving teams competed against Franklin last Friday.

Mitchell placed fourth in the 200 individual medley with a time of 2:27.7, and third in the 200 breaststroke in 1:16.22.

Humphrey competes for Crusaders

Former Crawfordsville standout and Valparaiso freshman Emily Humphrey and the Crusaders Swimming and Diving teams competed at the Phoenix Fall Classic in Chicago in late November.

Humphrey placed 18th in the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:10.37, and 15th in the 200 breaststroke in 2:37.27.
