Commerce park pond use approved

Posted

A request from Jeffrey Henkle with American Innovation was approved Wednesday by the Crawfordsville Board of Public Works & Safety. Henkle requested the facility be granted access to the Crawfordsville Commerce Park pond for testing processes at the facility, located at 2188 Phil Ward Blvd.

The company requested the use of a few hundred gallons of water at a time for testing.

Additionally, bids were received from five construction firms in regards to Kathleen J. Steele Park improvements in the 800 block of West Main Street.

Talks between Mayor Todd Barton, the Montgomery County Community Foundation and an unnamed donor began shortly before the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic struck. The process resumed in August.

The improvements promise all-new playground equipment, a shaded structure, decorative fencing and new landscaping.

HWC Engineering was hired to move the process forward and bid out the work.

Five offers were received after putting the project out to bid and were opened Wednesday, including: Spencer Construction Company, Inc. of Lafayette, $307,900; RLTurner of Zionsville, $295,679; Patterson Horth General Contractors of Indianapolis, $312,000; J.C. Ripberger Construction Corporation of Zionsville, $308,500; and Morphey Construction of Indianapolis, $362,000.

The bids will be taken into consideration with a selection in the coming weeks.
