County to crown 4-H fair queen

Pageant closed to public; event will be broadcast on local radio

Eight contestants will compete for the title of 2021 Montgomery County 4-H Queen on Saturday at the 4-H Building. This year’s competition will not be open to the general public because Montgomery County remains under a yellow status on the Indiana Department of Health’s dashboard. However, the contest, which begins at 8 p.m., will be broadcast live on 106.3 WCDQ FM.

The contestants are as follow:

• Rylie Koopman is a nine-year member of the Coal Creek Elite 4-H Club. She will be a senior at North Montgomery High School in the fall. Her parents are Garritt and Melissa Koopman.

Her 4-H Projects include: swine, sewing, photography and fashion revue. Her extra-curricular activities include: varsity golf, student council and Sunshine Society. Her special awards and recognitions include: academic all conference, varsity letter in golf, theater troupe and cheerleading. She is sponsored by Perry Equipment.

• Madysen Bush is an eight-year member of the Anti Cant’s 4-H Club. She will be a junior at North Montgomery High School in the fall. Her parents are Doug and Melanie Bush. Her 4-H projects include: beef, goats, photography, crops and gardening. Her extra-curricular activities include FFA and golf. Her special awards and recognitions include: merit award, reserve grand meat whether and reserve grand senior beef showmanship. She is sponsored by St. Vincent of Crawfordsville.

• Riley Sanders is an eight-year member of the C’Ville Clovers 4-H Club. She will be a junior at North Montgomery High School in the fall. Her parents are Josh and Melissa Patton. Her 4-H projects include: sheep, swine, home environment, photography, archery and cake decorating. Her extra-curricular activities include: Charger Xtreme dance team, Junior Leaders and National Honor Society. Her special awards and recognitions include: 2021 Sheep Queen and beginner and intermediate showmanship winner. She is sponsored by The Stock Market Boutique.

• Kaysen Schloemer is a six-year member of the Walnut Helping Hands 4-H Club. She will be a junior at McCutcheon High School in the fall. Her parents are Brittany and Matt Cooper. Her 4-H projects include: Horse and pony, goats, poultry and photography. Her extra-curricular activities include: Indiana Miniature Equine Club and solo and ensemble. Her special awards and recognitions include: two gold medals at state competition in solo and ensemble, grand champion overall poultry winner two years in a row, 2020 grand champion goat, pygmy doe and whether, 2020 English and Western miniature horse and 2020 State Fair exhibited photography project. She is sponsored by Ahead of Hair.

• Shyana Busse is a 10-year member of the Coal Creek Elite 4-H Club. She will attend Lake Land College in the fall. Her parents are Jay and Danielle Busse. Her 4-H projects include: swine, goats, photography, gardening, crafts and electricity. Her extra-curricular activities include: FFA, North Montgomery Ag Advisory Board Junior Leaders, SADD, Ascend Leadership Academy and New Hope Chapel of Wingate. Her special awards and recognitions include: Montgomery County Princess 2019, Elaine Chambers Mental Attitude Award 2019, Strawberry Festival first-runner 2020, grand champion dairy wether 2018 and 2019, reserve grand champion dairy wether 2018 and FFA Farmer Degree. She is sponsored by McCord Electric.

• Alexis Chadwick is a 10-year member of the Hustling Hoosiers 4-H Club. She will attend Ivy Tech Community College in the fall. Her parents are Jeremy and Kristine Chadwick. Her 4-H projects include: goats, swine, photography, scrapbooking, cake decorating, electricity and cooking. Her extra-curricular activities include: cheerleading and Junior Livestock Boar. Her special awards and recognitions include: 2018 champion senior meat doe, 2019 reserve champion Tamworth barrow, Top Ten Southmont Class of 2021 and 2020 Champion Landrace Gilt. She is sponsored by Jessica’s On Main.

• Morgan Meadows is a 10-year member of the Coal Creek Elite 4-H Club. She will attend Lake Land College in the fall. Her parents are Shad and Dawn Meadows. Her 4-H projects include: swine, goats, foods, gardening, sewing and fashion revue. Her extra-curricular activities include: praise team New Hope Chapel of Wingate, traveling teller for Fountain Trust Bank, goat club, Junior Livestock Board and Junior Leaders. Her special awards and recognitions include: Strawberry Festival Miss Congeniality 2020 and 2021, president of Montgomery County Junior Leaders 2021, 2019 Goat Queen and Miss Montgomery County Princess 2018. • Hadley Broadwater is a nine-year member of the Happy Hoosiers 4-H Club. She will be a senior at North Montgomery High School in the fall. Her parents are Sarah DeVore and Wesley Broadwater. Her 4-H projects include: sheep, swine, beef, tractor maintenance, consumer clothing, fashion revue, sewing, photography, personality, crafts and shooting sports. Her extra-curricular activities include: soccer, basketball, National Honor Society, Sunshine Society, Health Occupation Student Association and Student Council. Her special awards and recognitions include: overall showmanship winner 2019, Indiana State Fair reserve champion overall market lamb, Indiana State Fair champion Suffolk market lamb, Indiana Junior Club Lamb Circuit reserve champion senior showman and academic all conference.
