WAVELAND — Looking for something to do on the evening of Aug. 15? Come out and enjoy an evening of supporting veterans in honor of America’s 250th celebration. Waveland Strong is hosting its Veterans Cruise-In at the town park on Howard Street.

The group is raising funds for the Veterans Memorial in Waveland. Proceeds from the event will help with the banner project for local veterans; getting flags for all the military branches; and maintenance of the memorial. Additional information about the banner program will be available at the veterans booth.

The cruise-in will feature classic cars and all makes and models of vehicles. The first 25 cars registered will receive a dash plaque and goodie bag.

Beginning at 5:30 p.m., more than 16 vendors will sell baked goods, sand art, beads, shoe charms, jewelry, 3D printing, hats, wire works, bath products and more. Organizers welcome additional vendors.

The event is sponsored by Stevenson Automotive.

Eric Barr and the Jammers will perform at 6 p.m. They are a trio from West Central Indiana with more than a century of musical experience collectively. The Jammers consist of Eric Barr, Gene Powell and Bill Sloan. The Jammers play a wide selection of hits from older classic rock to older country, along with several original tunes. They specialize in songs you might not have heard in a while.

There will be a veteran quilt raffle at 7 p.m. Tickets will sold for $5 a piece or 5 for $20. Quilts are on display at Waveland Public Library and are handmade by a Waveland resident. There are five quilts in the raffle.

Members of the Brown Lucky Leaf 4-H Club will serve concessions at 5:30 p.m. They will offer a full menu, including pulled pork, hamburgers and hot dogs. They also will have a booth with sand art and beads for children. There also will be a bounce house for children.

You will not want to miss a chance to win at the 50/50 and a wash bucket raffle. All proceeds go to the Veterans Memorial.
