David L. Skelton, 86, a resident at Lane House, passed away Jan. 18, 2021, at St. Vincent Hospital, Indianapolis.

He was born Dec. 8, 1934, at Rockville, to the late Frank and Cordie (Cox) Skelton in Rockville. He married Mary Jane Thompson on May 12, 1956, at the Rockville Christian Church. She preceded him in death Aug. 15, 2018.

David was a 1952 graduate of Rockville High School. He then proudly served our country in the United States Navy. Once returning home he worked at RR Donnelley. He attended electrical school and began working as a construction electrician until retirement. He was a member of IBEW Local 481 and the Browns Valley Christian Church. He enjoyed gardening, wood working, making brooms and spending time with his family and friends.

He is survived by his children, Sarah (Jeff) Baker of Crawfordsville, Susanna (Mark) Rogers of Crawfordsville and Sam (Karen) Skelton of Russellville, Tennessee; seven grandchildren, Rachel (Chad) Scott, Adam (Tricia) Skelton, Danielle Baker, Kaitlyn Baker, Marcus Rogers, Seth (Dana) Skelton and Samantha Skelton; six great-grandchildren, Carter, Frank, Jacob, David, Timothy and Abigail; and several nieces and nephews.

David was preceded in death by his parents; wife; son Steven Skelton; infant grandson Patrick Baker; and two brothers.

Funeral service will be at noon Saturday, Jan. 23 at Browns Valley Christian Church, 9011 S. State Road 47, Crawfordsville, with military honors by the United States Navy and Local Post #72 Honor Guard, and Pastor David Finch officiating. Burial will follow in Indian Creek Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the time of the service Saturday. Masks will be required and social distancing is expected to be followed by those in attendance. Machledt & Servies Funeral Home has been entrusted with David’s funeral arrangements.
