The Dining with the Chefs fundraiser for the Montgomery County Free Clinic is nearing and, and tickets for the Aug. 8 event are almost sold out. Reservations may be made online at mcfreeclinic.org/dining-with the-chefs/.
The evening will begin at Wabash College with a cocktail hour and silent auction from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., which will feature a cash bar and small bites. A four-course dinner with wine pairing will follow (menu details below).
Organizers are pleased to share that the following local chefs will be preparing the dinner and presenting live cooking demonstrations throughout the meal service.
Lali Hess is the founder of The Juniper Spoon catering company and Table Spoon, a new restaurant and market on Green Street in Crawfordsville. Her culinary career is rooted in her experience as an organic farmer and her longstanding commitment to sourcing ingredients from local producers.
Brittney Terry, executive chef at The Juniper Spoon, brings a from-scratch, seasonal approach honed across independently owned Indiana restaurants and bakeries.
Levi Kinney founded Gordito’s Rust Belt Tacos & Tortas and is the chef behind Bóveda. He trained in Michelin-starred D.C. kitchens before crafting a menu that blends Iberian, Latin American and Midwestern flavors.
Patrick Matthews is a Johnson & Wales-trained chef who built his foundation on classical technique. Patrick now creates memorable dining experiences at Wabash College.
Raylee Carpenter, owner and chocolatier of Miss Sugar Ray’s in Crawfordsville, handcrafts small-batch chocolates and truffles while investing in the downtown community.
The evening’s menu is Greek inspired and begins with a Mezze Platter featuring seared Greek chicken skewers, Quinoa Tabouleh, Baba Ganoush and seasoned pita chips with grilled watermelon Tirokafteri. The main course follows with Greek-style short ribs with white beans, Greek lemon potatoes and Greek braised cauliflower (Kounoupidi Kapama). A dessert platter includes Baklava, Dubai Truffles and Balsamic Strawberries. The two wine pairings have been thoughtfully chosen by wine connoisseur, Patrick Taylor.
Finally, the silent auction (participants may be present at the dinner or bid online) offers a range of objects and activities. These include tickets to multiple Colts games, a Pacers’ game and tickets to the IU vs. Howard football game, pottery from local artist Amy Westphal, a distillery basket and bourbon tasting from Old 55 Distillery, a pair of hearing aids from Crawfordsville Audiology, a yoga and wellness basket from Quest for Balance Wellness, a sailing experience on Eagle Creek with Dr. Scott Douglas, a flower arranging group class from Country Hearts and Flowers, a washer and dryer from Town & Country Home Center and more. Visit Facebook.com/MCFreeClinic for up to date auction information.
Proceeds benefit the Montgomery County Free Clinic, which helps untold numbers of local residents through the free medical care the clinic provides, and the Meals on Wheels program on which so many in the community rely for healthy and inexpensive meals.
