Dorothy “Dottie” (Sanders) Rathbun, 77, of Waynetown passed away April 13, 2021, at Franciscan Health in Lafayette.
Dottie was born Oct. 7, 1943, at Tulsa, Oklahoma, to James and Thelma (Bybee) Sanders. She attended Griffith High School and married Richard Rathbun on Feb. 3, 1962, at Hammond.
Throughout the years she worked as a financial officer at Culver Hospital and she was the county and area coordinator for the Special Olympics. She was a loving mother and homemaker and enjoyed online shopping, cooking, reading, loved her dogs and spending time with her family.
She is survived by her husband, Richard; four children, Jeff Rathbun of Crawfordsville, JoAnn Rathbun (Russel) of Waynetown, Janet (Deron) Rater of Williamsport and Joey Rathbun of Crawfordsville; sister Brenda Ricy of Texas; two brothers, Jim Sanders of Kingman and Tom (Kathy) Sanders of Waynetown; five grandchildren, Josh (Allison) Rater and Kristen (Jake) Honaker, both of Williamsport, Tayler Rathbun (Zak) of Ladoga, Conner Rathbun of Indianapolis and Maiah Rathbun of Waynetown; three great-grandchildren, Kinsley Gibson, Korbyn Gibson and Madelyn Rater; and her four dogs Maggie, Max, Murphy and Kingsley.
There will be a graveside service at 2 p.m. April 16 at Waynetown Masonic Cemetery. Sanders Shoemaker Funeral Care entrusted with care.
