Eagles donates to Special Olympics

Posted

Last year’s state presidents of the Indiana Aerie and Auxiliary of the Fraternal Order of Eagles presented a check to Special Olympics of Indiana for Project 17 in the amount of $328,007.

The presentation was made at Lafayette Aerie 347 to Jeff Mohler, president and CEO of Special Olympics Indiana. Also present was Lafayette Mayor Tony Roswarski and many State Aerie and Auxiliary officers.

Last year, members of Eagles in Indiana donated $629,229 to many charities, such as cancer research, Alzheimer’s research, diabetes, kidney, muscular dystrophy, Parkinson’s and spinal cord. All donations made to these charities must be used for research and not overhead.

Another major fund of the Eagles is it’s Memorial Foundation, which is of great benefit to younger members with children, especially those with hazardous jobs. If a member loses their life in the performance of their job, the Eagles will cover their children’s education and medical expenses until age 22. All members are automatically eligible as long as they are a member in good standing.

The Crawfordsville Aerie is located at 920 E. South Blvd.
