GIRLS GOLF

Relying on roster’s depth

Top graduated players: None

Top returning players: Senior Mallory Inskeep; junior Marlee Reed; sophomore and Isabelle Hamby

New players: Sophomores Annabelle Rose and Chloe Arnold; freshmen Hadlie Horn, Kinley Deener, Addisyn Sabo, Addison Stephens

Keys for success: The biggest key for us is to get better every day. Golf is a game where small improvements can make a big difference, so we want to focus on the things we can control and continue improving in every area of the game. With our entire top five returning from last season, we have a lot of experience, but we can’t rely on what we accomplished last year. We need to continue working hard, competing in practice, and pushing ourselves outside of our comfort zones.

Another key will be our short game and course management.

Most importantly, we want to enjoy playing together and continue building a team that cares about each other.

We have a lot of depth throughout our roster, and several younger players are already making an impact at the varsity level. Natalie Schultz, junior, has played very well for us so far this season and has been a big part of our early success. Freshman Kinley Deener and Hadlie Horn have also both competed in varsity matches and have shown that they are ready to contribute at this level.

GIRLS SOCCER

Re-loads after great season

Graduated players: Taylor Hudson, Makenna Hutson

Top returning players: Seniors Paige Yarger, Courtney Bennett, Gracie Ratcliff; juniors Riley Robinson, Genesis Reyes, Anna Cain

New players: We have a big freshman class that we expect to see a lot of minutes this season. Olivia Nuppnau (forward) and Savanah Ratcliff (midfield) will be in the starting lineup to start the season.

Keys for success: We have a great team atmosphere with this group. The majority of the team is underclassmen with only six  of our 19 players are juniors and seniors. Those juniors and seniors have been starters since they were underclassmen, so even though it is a small group they bring a lot of experience. That will help the younger players. We had a very successful season last year, but these players are not satisfied. Their effort and attitude have already proven they are wanting to achieve the many goals we have set this season. We return three of the top four scorers from last year as well as three of the four top assist leaders from last year. All of our starting defenders started in the defense last season.

Coach Julie Hodges

BOYS SOCCER

Working for more success

Top graduated players: Braydin Osborne, Nathan Woosley

Top returning players: Seniors Thomas Varney, Chris Jara, William Cruz; juniors Sam Woolwine, Noah Woolsey, Noah Arthur, Sam Rogers, Isaiah Warneke, Nicholas Daron, Owen Nichols, Ben Perez and Ben Oppy; sophomores Dawson Bell, Garret Hudson, Nolan Warren, Emrik Phillips, Benjamin Sperry, Noah Hunsberger

New players: Juniors Payson Frasier, Presley Frasier, Nathan Purcell. The Chargers have six freshmen on the roster including probable starter Tryston Reyes.

Keys for success: After setting a record for most wins last season, we want to build on last year’s success. We have 31 players on the roster and feel our depth is a strength. We have some new players who are capable of making an immediate impact.

Coach: Bobby Cunningham

CROSS COUNTRY

Looking for improvement

Returning players: Seniors Connor Laws, Sam Jones, Sarah Hopper; junior Drew Dark; sophomore Cooper Stephens

New runners: Junior Lukas Fowler; freshmen Ethan King, Will Dark, Brylyn Burkholder, Remley Redden

Keys for success: We have one of our largest teams with 15 boys and eight girls running. Our three seniors will be leading our squad. We have two runners, Drew Dark and Cooper Stephens set school records last year.

This year we have several new runners that bring great talent. Junior Lukas Fowler is a great fit for our team with speed and determination.

Our keys for success are built upon our core pillars that we continue to build upon each season and each athlete is expected to compete on the course and off the course with these expectations. Be an athlete and individual of Character, Honor, Attitude, Motivation, and Perseverance.

Coach Tim Lueking

TENNIS

Expecting a bright future

Graduated players: Dane Elliott, Austin Biddle, Keaton Brown

Top returning players: Senior Piersyn Joyce; juniors Carter Thompson, Owen DeSmet; sophomores Kohen Bonebrake, Elliott Allen, Alex Heisel, Korbin Lewis

New players: Freshmen Cash Cole, Strom Schenck, Kayden Grundy

Keys for success: We lost a lot last year. We are a young team but we are more in sync than ever. We have great leaders. We need to make sure that we stick to our game when the lights are on and not fold to the pressure. We cannot try to do too much. We will have some moments of lack of experience but this group has proven they are up for that challenge and will work to overcome any adversity thrown at them. Practices are competitive and we are working day in and out to make sure we are ready for anything thrown at us. We know the future is bright for us and we have to keep working towards our team goals.

Coach Chris Cash

VOLLEYBALL

Seeking a promisingfuture

Graduated players: Hope Delp

Top returning players: Seniors Kate Merica, Lilly Graham, Caelyn Carpenter; junior Paisley Gillan

New players: Sophomore Mallory Denham transfer from McCutcheon and eight freshmen

Keys to success: Making quick adjustments and staying smart on our side of the net. We are a younger team this year with eight freshmen who had a lot of success in middle school.  The future of North Montgomery looks promising for our program and we are going to continue to grow on team trust and commitment to becoming better together.
