GIRLS SOCCER

Team boasts depth

Graduated players: Kolie Murphy, Chloe Blankenship, Nevaeh Ward

Returning players: Seniors Mackinzie Wood, Emily Link, Molly Williams, Claire Kessler, Alizabeth Brown, Layla Gomez; juniors ZuZu Trautwein, Camryn Priebe, Katerina Jennings, Madison Bensen, Vivyan Haltom; sophomores Emily Simpson, Elena Barrera Morey, Skylar Strickland, Emma Benge

New players: Seniors Layla Testerman and Lennon Wood; freshmen Kaylee Albarran, Calista Hale, Izzy Roberts, Isabelle Roberts, Allison Largent, Alexa Whitlow

Keys to success: We have nine seniors this year, so we will have a lot of experience on the field. We also have six freshmen who will be a great addition to our team. We have a large team. I’m sure we will become more of a unit through the season. Trusting and believing in each other will make us a successful team. We are excited to play some games and see how they unfold on the pitch.

Ready to set the tone

Keys to success: Our returning players bring valuable experience, skill and leadership to the team and will be expected to play an important role in setting the tone for the season.

We have several new players who will be important contributors. Karter Patton had returned to Southmont and will bring experience. Our two freshman have the ability to make an immediate impact.

Keys to success: Southmont has 16 freshmen on its roster this season. Development is going to be key to our success this season. We are definitely going to be younger this year than last year. We will play several sophomores, so the development of this group will be key.

Keys to success: We will continue to work together with confidence, have fun and remain consistent. I am excited about our talent and ready for our athletes to begin their season on the course.

Keys to success: Our keys to success this season will be working hard, believing in ourselves, and trusting one another. We want to play aggressive, confident volleyball and compete for every point. Strong communication will also be important to our success. We want to be a team that supports one another, handles challenges together, and continues to compete with confidence from the first point to the last.

We are very excited about this group and the energy they are bringing to the program. We are looking forward to a great season with a lot of wins.
