Fencing to be installed at Elmore St. building for K-9 training

Officers will have a new area for training police dogs at the Emergency Management Operations Center.

The Crawfordsville Board of Public Works and Safety on Wednesday approved a $7,215 agreement with Lowe’s Custom Fencing to install fencing on the southwest side of the building for training exercises.

The board also approved a $6,910 agreement with Myers Heating and Cooling to install air conditioning in the indoor training facility.

Montgomery County is set to host the fall workshop of the North American Police Work Dog Association in September.

In other business, the board:

• Tabled a vote on a document terminating the contract with DC Construction Services Inc. for the East Wabash Avenue project. The language of the agreement is still be finalized, city attorney Kent Minnette said.

• Approved a request from Darrell Portwood of New Hope Christian Church to close Pike Street by Pike Place for church events from 6 to 9 p.m. on Aug. 16, Sept. 13 and Oct. 4.

• Approved a request from code enforcement officer Barry Lewis to remove a couch from a property at 513-515 E. Chestnut St.
