Flower Lovers Club

The Flower Lovers Club met at Lew Wallace Study for the dedication of the club’s gift to the city. It is a commemorative bench.

We held our regular meeting at St. John’s. President Paula Furr opened the meeting. Roll call was have you been to Lew Wallace Study before today? A sign-up sheet for the October meeting at Purdue was passed around. Several August birthdays were recognized. Hostesses for August Ruth Hallett, Kathy Houghton, Sandy Lewien and Teresa Huxhold.

The flower show at the Farmers Market was very popular with the public. We are planning for the show in 2022.

New club members are Marylou Dawald, Camaryn Todd, Jessica Miller and Heather Rock.

Nancy Kochert will present a program on butterflies at the Farmers Market on Sept. 11.

The downtown planters are doing great. Judy and Scott Fiely were thanked for the anniversary stickers. Members were asked to look for possible locations for the 2022 Garden Walk.

Sandy Lewien of the nominating committee asked members to consider being an officer for 2022. Carolyn Fisher gave a report on the historical committee’s display of decorative historical boxes to be displayed at the library and Carnegie Museum.

The next meeting will be 100th anniversary celebration at 1 p.m. Sept. 1 at the Masonic Lodge. Members are asked to dress for a garden party from any decade of the past 100 years.
