This summer, families in and around Ladoga are invited to take part in a special community effort to provide free lunches for all children under 18, now available Monday through Wednesday each week through July 30.
On Mondays and Tuesdays, lunches are served from noon to 1 p.m. at the Ladoga-Clark Township Public Library, thanks to a partnership between the library, FISH Food Pantry, Emporium 109,and the Ladoga Community Fund. Children are welcome to enjoy their lunch inside the library, out on the front lawn, or take it to go. While there, they’re encouraged to explore the library and participate in the summer reading program activities, which offer fun and educational engagement all summer long.
Then on Wednesdays, the Ladoga Christian Church hosts its Lunch Bunch program, providing free lunches from noon to 1 p.m. at the Ladoga Park. It’s a wonderful midweek opportunity for children to gather, eat, and enjoy the fresh air in a relaxed, family-friendly setting.
These lunch programs are open to all children in the area — not just those from Ladoga. Whether you’re a local resident or visiting from a nearby town, your children are welcome to join in.
This effort has been made possible by the generous support of the community. Volunteers from Hoosier Heartland State Bank and Farm Credit Services have helped distribute lunches, while Whitesville Christian Church, KP’s of the 80’s Extension Club, and the Ladoga Lion’s Club have helped assemble meals each week.
“We’re grateful for their service and the many hands working behind the scenes to make this effort successful,” said Terri Cline. “So far, turnout has been strong, but we hope to see even more children and families join us as the summer goes on.”
