Gallery partners with artists for new classes

Posted

The Athens Arts Gallery is once again partnering with artist instructors to offer classes, as part of its arts education program.

As the pandemic grew, Athens Arts Gallery had to suspend in-person educational opportunities in the building. Athens is now ready to open the classroom for in-person education.

Athens Arts has limited the number of participants.  Registration and payment must be received prior to the class. Athens Arts will maintain COVID-19 guidelines throughout the gallery and in the classroom.

The first class is scheduled 1-3 p.m. April 8 at the gallery.

Ellie Dieckmeyer will introduce tips, tricks and techniques on how to use alcohol inks. These inks were originally used by scrapbookers but when an artist realized they could be used with yupo paper, a new art discipline was born. No artistic ability required. This class will be a fun way to experiment with inks. The fee is $35. All supplies will be furnished. Any person age 12 and older is invited to sign up.

Due to the uncertainty of COVID-19, the gallery will not be hosting the Brown Bag Lunch and Learn series this summer.

If you are an artist with a skill or technique to teach, Athens Arts has the ability to host your class. The education and class committee chair will coordinate with you to teach at the gallery.
