GBB Roundup: Athenians and Mustangs both fall on the road

Athenians can’t contain high-powered Cougars

Crawfordsville traveled to North Putnam Tuesday evening to take on North Putnam. The game got away early for the Athenians as they fell by a final score of 68-38. Taylor Abston led the Athenians with 16 points in the loss while Liddy McCarty added in 11.

“We have a long way to go on the defensive end and taking care of the basketball,” Crawfordsville coach Tyler Smith said. “I thought when we were able to take care of the ball our offense looked strong. Some of our easy looks didn’t fall to begin the game so if they do fall then who knows how the game turns out. I’m confident that this group and believe we’ll get things going.”

Crawfordsville falls to 0-2 on the season and will have their first Sagamore Conference game of the season Thursday night as they travel to Tri-West.

Bulldogs pull away from Mustangs.

After a picking up their first win of the season over the weekend, Fountain Central looked to make it two in a row as they hit the road to take on Clinton Central. However for the Mustangs the Bulldogs after trailing by just five to begin the second quarter, they would get outscored 39-20 over the next two periods and ultimately fall 66-45. Hannah Prickett led the Mustangs with 16 points and Larissa Bowers added in 14.

The 1-3 Mustangs will host Southmont Thursday evening.
