Georgia Ann (Martin) Phelps, 78, of New Market, passed peacefully into the arms of her Lord on Saturday, Oct. 17, 2026.
She was born Sept. 29, 1948, in Crawfordsville, to the late George and Mary Jean Martin, and was a 1966 graduate of Crawfordsville High School.
Georgia married the love of her life, Fred Phelps, on Feb. 17, 1967, sharing 59 wonderful years built on faith and love for Christ. She is survived by her husband Fred; daughter Kristie Hart (Gary Biddle); grandchildren, Alexis Hart and Jaden Hart; sister Kathleen (David) Hamilton; and several beloved nieces, nephews and bonus grandchildren.
A dedicated servant of Christ and a 2010 community “Shining Star.” Georgia spent much of her life volunteering for organizations such as Samaritan’s Purse Operation Christmas Child, Habitat for Humanity, Pink Lady at Franciscan Health Crawfordsville, Meals on Wheels and local church missions at both First Baptist and Woodland Heights at which she is a current member. She enjoyed trips to Branson, Missouri, with her friends, Knoxville, Tennessee, for Senior Saints and visiting family in Paris, Tennessee. She also enjoyed cheering on her Chicago Cubs and Purdue basketball. She was well known for making homemade meals for family and friends with an extra portion of love in every bite!
She was a faithful servant of Christ and by her many quiet acts of kindness, unwavering devotion and generous spirit, she truly made the world a better place.
“The true measure of a life is not found in wealth or recognition, but in the lives we touch and the love we leave behind”.
